Meet the Team Leader

Leading the team is Alfonso Padilla Peña, who held one of the most senior positions in the Spanish Tax office until he went into private practice, becoming one of the foremost specialist Tax lawyers in Spain.

After graduating in law and economics from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas-Icade, with the highest honours, Alfonso completed his legal training at Gomez-Acebo y Pombo in Brussels (1994) and the Legal-Economic Study Narciso Amorós de Madrid (1996).

From 1999 – 2004 Alfonso worked in the Directorate General of Taxation, Ministry of Economy and Finance, occupying various posts including inspector of taxes and finally as the Deputy Director General of Tax Policy in Spain.

Having held such senior positions within the Spanish tax authorities, Alfonso entered into the private sector as a senior partner specialising in Tax Law for the international Law firm, Lovells between October 2004 and August 2007.

In 2007, Alfonso was invited to become the Director of Business Taxation at Ernst & Young where he worked until 2009 when he started his own firm, Padilla & Asociados.

Alfonso has served on the Boards of Directors of the Empresa Nacional de Autopistas S.A. (Spanish Motorways) and DepurBaix S.A. (National Water Supplies).

His expertise has seen him invited to speak at numerous conferences and seminars on Spanish and international taxation. In addition has been Profesor del Instituto de Empresa, Profesor del Master de Tributación del Centro de Estudios Garrigues, Profesor de la Escuela de Hacienda Pública y Profesor de la Academia Contax de preparación de oposiciones al Ministerio de Hacienda.
